MAR 7, 2026
The March District 5 Meeting took place at noon on Saturday, March 7 th , 2026, at Pizza Stop in Kansas City, KS. Tony called the meeting to order. All present stood for the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for lost bothers and sisters, as well as those serving our country.
Reports.
Sergeant at Arms Report: Kim reported on the numbers of members and non-members present at the meeting, thanked everyone for coming. Kim also introduced Vicki, the wait staff present and taking care of us during the meeting at Pizza Stop.
Secretary’s Report: James went over the minutes from February District 5 Meeting, as well as pointing out topics to be carried over and discussed during the current meeting. Becky made a motion to approve the minutes as read and printed in the newsletter. Diane seconded the motion. All present were in favor of the motion and the motion passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report: James gave based on Angela’s report. The accounts have been audited and are in good standing. James made the records available if requested and answered any questions.
Membership Report: Tony reported on the District 5 Membership numbers. Membership slips were also made available for any opportunities to talk about ABATE and get people signed up.
Product Line Report: It was decided in past meetings that the older product was going to be heavily discounted or donated, to make room for new District 5 Products. This would be so we have new interesting products to sell, but also so we are not dragging totes full of old products around with us everywhere we go. There was discussion on new District 5 t-shirt designs. Some like the older past designs, and some want newer fresher designs. There are pros and cons to each. We wouldn’t have to come up with the older designs and already have the print for them; we would just need to decide on which ones to go with. As far as new designs are concerned, they are fresher and new, but none have been submitted to the district to be decided on yet. The older prints that were brought out at the meeting were the big District 5 logo with the eagle (the East Coast Al tattoo logo), and the smaller District 5 logo in the motorcycle chain. Becky
made a motion for the two past designs, discussed prior, as well as any new designs that anyone happens to bring to the April meeting, will be decided on and used as the new design for the District 5 t-shirt/product line. The District 5 County Logo will also be printed on the back with “ABATE of Kansas” added to the top of the design. The decision must be made at the April Meeting so we can decide on printing. Diane second the motion. All were in favor, and the motion passed.
Bud made the suggestion about having orange shirts made for those working on the game field that would say “District 5 Game Staff.”
State/Legislation Report: Tony stated everything has been frozen legislatively until the next fiscal year. Check out the Abate of Kansas website. It has been redesigned and looks nice. Have a look see it at www.abateks.org. Also see the State Report in the newsletter for more from the state meeting.
Old/New Business.
We need to check on getting the Moose Lodge again for the December State Meeting and District 5 End of Year Party on December 26th. Also need to look into a band for that date.
Look for work weekends for the Back to Roots Rally. All work weekend hours will count
toward early entry to the Labor Day Rally, but you have to have to check in and have them logged.
Becky was able to get and present a website traffic report. The District 5 Website has
also been updated and looks nice. The main page has been revamped. There is a spot
to “Opt-In.” if you opt-in, you will receive information from the website about upcoming
District 5 things. You can check out the District 5 website at www.abateksdist5.org.
