MAR 1, 2025
The March District 5 Meeting was held at noon at Full Draw Bar & Grill in Edgerton, Kansas on Saturday, March 1 st , 2025. Tony called the meeting to order. All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for lost brothers and sisters.
Reports.
- Sergeant at Arms Report: Kim reported on the number of members of all members and non-members present at the meeting. All were welcomed and informed of the expectations of the meeting.
- Secretary’s Report: James went over the minutes from the February meeting and brought up all items which were tabled and were to be brought up again. The February minutes were approved as read and printed in the newsletter.
- Treasurer’s Report: James went over the District 5 accounts and numbers as reported by Angela. All accounts are in good standing order and were approved as reported and presented.
- State Report/Legislative Report: Tony attended the February State Meeting in Hutchison. Vendors and things are all lined up for the Labor Day Rally. There will be a raffle for a 50 th Labor Day Rally Rifle. It is engraved with the ABATE 50 th on it. Tickets are still available for the rifle. There was discussion about Bikers Under the Dome, the Right to Repair, Motorcycle profiling, the Democratic Convention in February. See the State Report in the newsletter for more about the February State Meeting.
The March State Meeting will take place in Dodge City, Kansas.
Old Business.
- District 5 will be hosting the bike games and bike show for the ABATE of Kansas Back to
the Roots Rally in June. Bud had some ideas for the games, and stated we need to make a decision now as what to do. There was a suggestion for a hard tail only bike show, and an idea for a kickstart contest for the games. After much discussion, a motion was made for the bike show to be open class hard tail. Early model (1983 and prior), and Late model (1984 and after). American and foreign in each class. All votes are people’s choice. The motion was made by Beth, Becky seconded. All were in favor, no-one opposed and the motion passed.
The games to be played at the Back to the Roots Rally will be Slow Race, Cylinder Toss, Potato Toss, Weenie Bite, Balloon Toss, and Five-man Shuffle. - There will be a Ride-in Bike Show, in support of Motorcycle Awareness Month in May. It will take place after the May District 5 Meeting on May 10 th at Big Dawgs (formally The Bar on 32) in Kansas City, KS. The winner will be people’s choice, one winner, one prize. Tony will be ordering participant ribbons as well. There will also be a blessing of the bikes by Kim.
Meetings.
- The April District 5 Meeting will be held at noon on Saturday, April 5 th , 2025 at the Ten & Two Coffee Bar – 611 w. 2 nd ST., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
- The May District 5 Meeting will be held at noon on Saturday May 10 th , 2025 at Big Dawgs – 6720 Kaw Dr., Kansas City, KS 66111. The meeting will be followed up by a Ride-in Bike Show in support of Motorcycle Awareness Month.
- The June District 5 Meeting will be held at noon on Saturday, June 14 th , 2025 and will take place at the Back to the Roots Rally – Old Military Trail, Perry Lake, KS.
A motion was made to adjourn. All were in favor, no-one opposed. Motion passed. Meeting was
adjourned.
